There comes moments when our minds wander that it becomes tough to concentrate on our tasks at hand. Your memory fails you and it affects your daily responsibilities. While it could be because you’re only pre-occupied with something, the reason could also go beyond stress from work.  It could also be brought by underlying health issues.

Hypothyroidism, for instance, or too low levels of thyroid hormone, could be the cause. For women, nearing your menopausal phase could also affect your mind’s clarity and focus as your menstrual cycle becomes irregular and estrogen levels reduce. For women in the perimenopausal stage, lack of focus can start creeping in. This includes feeling fuzzy, such as that they feel they’re not as sharp and clear as before.

Starting on anti-depressants or stopping taking them has an impact on your mood and concentration. For instance, antihistamines, sedatives, and anti-anxiety prescriptions can lead to persistent sleepiness, while anti-depressants, beta blockers, and other prescription drugs can make your mind blurry.

This doesn’t mean you ought to go back to this unhealthy habit. Remember, the sooner you quit, the more you’ll sustain your new smoke-free lifestyle. While you’ll have concentration problems as a result of your withdrawal, this eventually goes away. In the end, the mental boost you get from being smoke-free is more significant.
